The International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) will jointly celebrate World Accreditation Day on June 9, 2024. The theme of this year's World Recognition Day is "Recognition: Empowering Tomorrow, Shaping the Future.". This theme prompts us to pay attention to and reflect on how to provide confidence for new technologies, digitization, and sustainability statements in the current global changes.

A recent example is the international standard "Information Technology - Artificial Intelligence - Management Systems" (ISO/IEC 42001) released in December 2023. This is the first global artificial intelligence management system standard aimed at addressing transparency, responsibility, and ethical issues brought about by the rapid application of AI in various fields. This standard highlights our efforts to adapt to the constantly changing technological environment and ensure that organizations develop and use AI systems in a responsible manner.

Approved testing, measurement, validation, and verification services can also enhance people's confidence in activities such as energy efficiency improvement, renewable energy production, and carbon dioxide reduction, promoting global action to address climate change.
